Luther on the Benefits of Worthy Communion

In the summer of 1997 I took a course with Dr. John Stephenson on Luther and the Lord’s Supper. It was a wonderful class and, in retrospect, was highly influential in my view of the Supper. I was reminded of this when I overheard my friend David Petersen and another pastor talking about whether there is a bodily benefit to the Eucharist. I remembered writing a paper on that topic for the aforementioned class. I’m (hopefully) attaching it to this post. I hate the way I wrote while a seminary student, but if you can look past that, the quotations from Luther and others are, in my opinion, quite valuable.
