2 Peter 1.16-21; Matthew 17:1-9 Last Sunday we talked about the temptation to add something to what God has given to us. On the far fringes of Christianity are groups that claim visitations from God through signs and wonders. Among the most notable of these is a loose coalition called the New Apostolic Reformation, with three prominent cult-like groups in Toronto, Kansas City, and Redding, California. Babbling gibberish, people rolling on the floor and barking like dogs, and people shaking and twitching uncontrollably are said to be marks of the Holy Spirit.
