On Apostolic Succession
It is wicked for Romanists to tell faithful Christians they must “come home” if they want to be saved. You cannot excommunicate preachers of the gospel, burn them at the stake, destroy their cities, deny them bishops, burn their Bibles, and then act as though they left home like rebellious children. No. They fled the home where the abusive parents raped them, stole from them, and denied them food.
Reconciliation can happen only when a full acknowledgement of abuse happens. A “holy father” lecturing the world in arrogance after a millennium of abuse will not bring about reconciliation. Rome long ago lost whatever authority she may have had by virtue of her geography.
The Roman religion clings so fervently to “apostolic succession” precisely because they have abandoned the apostolic faith. An apostate church can only cling to dry bones. Woe to those who say “Abraham is our father, the Apostles are our fathers.” God is able to raise up children of the Apostles from the stones, who still hold to Peter’s confession.
No one is in apostolic succession who rejects the singular authority of the apostolic writings.
No one is outside of apostolic succession who upholds the singular authority of the apostolic writings.
Apostolic succession is found among those who honor the apostolic faith.
Apostolic succession is not found among those who dishonor the apostolic faith with new and strange doctrines.
No sacrament is valid where God’s Word is rejected.
No sacrament is invalid where God’s Word is honored.
